In light of the thread over in the LED forum (Do you really use 0.2 lumen?), i would like help in producing a list of lights that have an ultra low "moon mode" option.
I am a big fan of this option as i use it nightly and wanted to know what else is out there.
.
The light that i use for this situation is a LiteFlux LF3XT and sometimes i think that it is too much light with night adapted vision.

Noteworthy lights in this category that i am aware of include:

Surefire Titan
HDS/RA
Some Quarks (minis?)
LiteFlux

Please feel free to add a light to this list and thanks for your input .

Novatac should be on there, and I'm not sure how low you're talking about, but the NDI goes down to 3 lumens.

Zebralight SC30, SC50 & SC60. IF you are including headlamps in your list, then H31, H51, H501 and H60.

Don't forget the Photon lights, Freedom, Proton Pro, and Rex. There's also a headlamp, but I forget the name.

All the Quarks *except* for the minis have a 0.2 lumen moon mode (except 0.4 on Quark RGB).

Some others not mentioned that are less than 1 lumen: NovaTac EDC-120p (older light) 0.08 lumens; Modamag Draco 0.13; Arcmania Extreme Micro III around 0.6.

Are you going to keep your post #1 updated with the list (including lumens)?

Isn't there already such a list? I'm sure I'd seen one in the past but can't find it now. Looked harder - here it is - "I want an EDC with a < 1 lumen low, low - what are my options??" - a bit old but good list in post #1, and some measurements in post #8: http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?t=211253

Here's a nice related thread: http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?t=216637 - also http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?t=246934 - and http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?t=287434 .

The Spy series (upgraded 005, 007's and Tri-V's) can be dropped on level 1 until Tritium locators are brighter... Milky lights routinely have an ultra- low first level as well. I'm not well-versed on Scott's work, but know that the Acorn series of firmware has this feature. I'm sure there are others from him as well.

DX-17593 at its lowest setting is a fraction of a lumen. reverse clicky hosts work best IMHO. My review HERE. I use it with a single 18650 but it will work just as well at 8.4V.

Most of the ultra low capable lights are high $$$ (Quarks being somewhat of an exception), being that they cater to the enthusiast crowd. the 17593 is a way to get there without spending too much $$. Of course that all depends on the host used.

I believe some people have been able to get fairly low outputs with their programmable AKOray lights (K-109 and K-106) but IIRC it is a bit tricky to get the timing right (I didn't manage very well when I tried).

I have one of the programmable 106. I can get it programmed to about 3-5 lumen, but I dont think it is possible to get sub-1 lumen even with perfect timing.

The Safe-Lite Palm Light has a ultra-ultra low Fast-Find mode. It runs on a regular 9V battery and lasts a year or 2 in Fast-Find mode. You can feed it the 9V batteries from your smoke alarm when you replace them each year so you don't really need to buy batteries for it. The Fast-Find mode is bright enough to do hand shadow shows from across a room with dark adapted eyes. Low mode lasts a hell of a long time 83+++ hours. On high sun mode is 10 1/2 hours then light intensity gradually drops for another 17 hours. When the battery gets low enough on high mode it drops back down to low mode on its own.

My Quark AA warm and my Jetbeam Jet-IIIM warm both have a similar minimum output. The Jet-IIIM does have a slightly smaller but brighter hotspot but the total light output would be pretty close to the Quark.

For the minimum Lux the Quark AA with an Olight diffuser works REALLY well and produces a very low light with no hotspot. It is still enough light to avoid tripping over objects and see around you at night. I tried mine last night and it was putting out a low enough output so that I only had limited colour vision - I could make out reds & oranges but greens and blues just looked like shades of grey.

I have plenty of lights with low modes, but the Jet-IIIM and Quark AA are the lowest output out of my lights by a healthy margin.

My Ra Clicky outputs 0.07 lumens on the lowest level, my Surefire T1A is a fraction of that -- the lux meter says 1/80th of 0.07 lumens, which would be 0.000875 lumens. With dark adapted eyes you can still navigate a small room using that, which shows how non-linear human brightness perception is.

My Photon REX's lowest level is about 1/9th the output of my Ra Clicky's lowest level, which would be about 0.0075 lumens.

My Quark 123 Mini's lowest level is about 17x brighter than the Ra Clicky's lowest level, which would be 1.21 lumens.

Joema- Thank you for putting numbers to the Titan/ T1A low- I've been saying for a while that it is my most used light if you factor minutes used, not time carried. Perfect for dark mornings getting ready for work, or late night runs to the kitchen. I've tried my Ra Clicky in this role, too bright. The Spy is good at those levels, but I can't add 1/1000 of a lumen if need be like with the Titan. :) Quark .02 moonlight mode is too bright as well, I find myself putting fingers over the bezel... Before these numbers get flamed as being too impossibly low for real use, I'll repeat my offer- I've got a T1A that I'll happily send as a loaner for a day or two to try to convince the skeptics. We'll pay a premium for Ti or more lumens, how about for Super Low and the seamless UI that is in use here? 70-80 lumens on high, decent flood, good runtime, good form factor... I'm a fan and have four now...

I bought a Zebralight SC52Fw L2 from Andrew and Amanda. Its lowest firefly mode is still useful. For example, in the middle of the night to look and see what time it is. The frosted lens gives a warm full beam every bit as good as the most perfect ThruNite TN36 NW.

The Zebralight SC52Fw L2 is $64.00 plus free, fast shipping. Very wonderful.

L3 Illumination L10 & L10C (0.09lm firefly mode)
Thrunite T10 series (0.2lm on lowest mode)
