I was contacted by the director of this organization, http://www.mgvp.org/ who needed a no kidding, best of breed light for their work.

We sent a PH50 next day air as they were leaving in 48 hours.
Their unsolicited response is captured in this Rough Cut:

There is much more to the stories, but this is just the teaser so to speak.

Pretty darn impressive. Funny spelling :) One day I will go for it and save up enough to get a Helios.....then I can sell all my other lights since I wont need them

Hmm, the plug-in doesn't seem to be working for the second link. Assuming it worked for Cigarman...I'll keep tinkering with it.

In order to alleviate the political controversy associated with format/plugins, I took the clip from the site and converted it to standalone files that the masses should be able to embrace.

Quicktime:

Windows Media:

MPEG-4

Flash

Windows users should be able to Right-Click/Save As to their desktops
MAC users should be able to Control/Click to save the file to their desktops

I'm just relieved that he doesn't carry a `gun' but rather relies on a light for an "imobilization device" in Africa!...... All I can say to that is 'good luck regarding that continued practice' ... and 'peace.'

In any case. The Polarion is certainly all it's cracked up to be. It's funny to see it sitting there on the counter because it's size appears to be so diminutive while its performance is massive. There I go accidentally writing Polarion advertising phrases again...

Thanks for the helpful links Ken. I have Quicktime but the original still didn't work.

Kim Hammond the director of the (Mountain Gorilla Veterinary Project) is an extremely dedicated/warm person.

After speaking with him over the phone throughout the year, it does not surprise me that he does not carry a weapon. He is a braver man than I, that's for sure.

I think I will steer away from the Pros and Cons of the deployment of weapons in scenario A,B,...Z, as my background and general interests may skew the discussion a bit...:sssh:

I am going to do what I can to assist MGVP.org wherever possible.

I can't question his warmness or dedication at all. He certainly sounds like a fine individual. It's also a very worthy cause in my opinion. I'm an animal lover myself and these remaining gorilla populations are pressured from all sides whether it be innocent farmers trying to make a living, poachers, or the evil ravages of war.

I'm always a bit surprised at some people's apparent lack of value regarding self preservation. I'm sure that many of these fine people have family and loved ones who care for them deeply and pray for their safe return from the field. It's just that all to often in today's PC world individuals will refuse to have anything to do with a firearm or weapon for illogical political reasons. I am sure that many well meaners have sadly perished when they didn't necessarily have to, leaving behind wives, children, and their cause.

Knowing some of your history Ken, I can understand why you wouldn't want to make any further comments regarding the subject...;)

Sorry for getting off track in the first place and back to the subject of the PH50. It just occurred to me that we've hardly seen any video of the Polarion in action so from that aspect this is another great thing about it. It provides a real tangible demonstration for those not familiar with the light. I think it's neat that you get involved with projects like this one, the ongoing military projects development and the boarder patrol contacts that you made. It can't hurt business either. :)

If I had the money for one of your lights I would spend it now.
I hate the fact that this program is needed in the first place.

We can all do what we can.

well done.

Awesome Vid with a worthy cause, I had no idea how small the PH50 was until this vid. I gotta look into purchasing a Polarion in the future...
