Hey guys, i just did the police academy testing for Montreal, Quebec. And I was wondering what was the requirements to get in for your State/Province/Area.

Here's what it is for Montreal:
Cooper run, 2300m to pass
200m swim, 6 minutes or less to pass
Pull ups, 4 or more to pass
Dips 8 or more to pass
Crunches 63 or more to pass

Here's what I got
2700m cooper run
5:30 swim
13 pull ups
33 dips
65 crunches

When I tested in 1995, the physical entrance exam was something like:

--1.5 mile run, timed
--150 yard obstacle course, including simulated walls, windows, etc, while wearing a 25 pound weighted belt
--balance beam walk
--sit-ups, pull-ups, graded on a sliding scale according to your body weight
--Grip strength test

in my state, RS in Brazil, I joined in Military Police in 2003. My test was timed:

- 2,800m in 12 min
- 14 pull out [not timed]
- 30 dips
- 60 crunches in 1 min

- NOT swim :)

Cheers

At my local department the requirements for hire are:

1.5 mile run, 14:46
Sit ups: 29 in one minute
Bench press: 72% of body weight (or something like that)
Sit and reach: I don't know, but somewhat flexible

Now when it comes to the actual academy if you barely passed the hiring requirement you will absolutely get slaughtered. The academy is pretty darn intensive regarding PT and DT

It seems that the requirements are quite similar, except in dano's case where he had to do an obstacle course and balance beam walk, which i would have preferred over the swimming in any case

Obstacle courses are common.

A couple of my area PDs use their own, one of which includes a balance beam run and both of which include getting over a somewhat tall fence.

Alberta just switched over... we have the A-PREP now

Basically:
150m Pursuit Course
-2-5 Foot Wall Jumps
-4- 6 Up/6 Down Stair Set
2x Arrest Simulator
4 Cycle Push/Pull Station
150 Lbs Dummy Drag on 50 Ft course
