Hi all, been a while…
This is not strictly lighting related, but this is the first place I thought of when I realised an external battery pack was in order.
I work as a documentary photographer (have recently got home from a job O/S and my partner left for Kabul yesterday), which usually involves a bit of travel to remote (read–no ac) areas, and am now getting involved in some audio recording as well.
I've not been in touch here for a while, so forgive me, I've searched, but the options seem limitless for what I need.
I've just picked up a Sound Devices 722 hard disk recorder, which runs off sony type, li-ion m or l mount camcorder batteries, or any external dc power between 10 and 18 V, 2 amp minimum. It's possible to set a minimum voltage level for the ex supply, to trigger the unit into shutting down.
What I need is a light (li-ion?), dc, portable (small!) powerpack, and a suitable charger (also small?), in the 10-18V range. A good smart charger that doesn't necessarily only charge proprietary packs is important. I don't mind spending a reasonable amount of money to buy quality, as my reasoning is that I'll only be spending it once. Cheap stuff shits me–unless it's cheap and good!
Looking forward to your replies
Alex
