Preon 2 going dim

Hello,

I have a preon 2 that after left on high for around 10 minutes, will dim out to around 2 or so lumens. Is this a fluke or a defect? Or is it some heat regulation function? Does anybody else have a preon that does this?

Have you tried new batteries? Sounds kind of like they are recovering a bit when the light is off, but not strong enough to maintain high for long. If the batteries can't maintain a mode, the light will drop into lower modes.

Just run of the mill duracells that came right out of the preon 2 package a few days ago, they should be fairly fresh, but ill try other batteries.

alkys will drop in voltage fast... and then rebound when the load is removed... sounds about right.

This is just how alkalines work. The Preon performs best on rechargeable NiMH batteries.

The runtime quoted in the Preon 2 specs is 0.8hr for Ni-MH. Fresh alkalines will get maybe 20min of loose regulation.

my preon seems to down batts pretty quick
