Problem with NiteCore EZ Cr2

Hello,
I recently bought this little flashlight.
I bought Duracell cr2 from local shop (That was last unit)
First battery was 3.1v i think. (Rated 3 v)

Everything was okay until today.
Now I can`t turn hi mod on only on low.
Now voltage is 2.69 v
is that normal?
I Can`t get new battery now, everywhere in local shops cr2 is sold-out :/
I ordered from DX batteries.

Is that normal, or i should contact to NiteCore support?

At 2.69volts, the battery is basically dead. It may have a few hundred milliamps left, allowing for low mode, but it's basically dead.

Oh okay I didn`t know that.

I Know this is stupid what i just did, but I wanted to try.

I tried to charge that battery with my 18650 charger ( With spacers).

I Charged it little bit and it went up to 2.96v.
Everything seems okay with battery, but flashlight still working only on low mode.


It can still be battery problem, right?

I'm pretty sure you bought a primary battery in that shop which can't be charged! You are lucky that you didn't have an explosion at the first trial already... :poof:

If it was a rechargeable however, you first can't use an 18650 charger as its too strong for such a tiny battery, the charging current mustn't be greater than the capacity of your cell. Second, at 2,69 Volt a rechargeable is dead as well and musn't be charged anymore, high risk of :poof:

Yeah that was primary 3v battery.

I just wanted to try :) And charger wasn`t that strong... Rated 3.6v @ 250mA.

Agreed, however he stated he tried to charge them with an 18650 charger. If you know what an 18650 and its charger are, you should also know about common 123s...these cells are much more dangerous than the old nicads and metal batteries. One of our Sergeants just had his Streamlight Scorpion explode and blow the switch out (well actually the battery "vented" and blew the bottom off due to the pressure). Must have gotten some moisture in it from the recent rain or one cell was way low and tried to charge the other (example of charging primaries...) and :poof: in the elevator, catching the carpet on fire (well just smoldered).

Always read the labels folks! Stay safe!
