I have narrowed my choice of headlamp down to the PT EOS for the favorable reviews here and I'm considering buying it in the "bike" style. I intend to use it for two purposes:
1. Obviously for mountain/road bike
2. For work purposes as a head band mount.

My question is whether there is a noticeable difference in the function/fit of the bike light on the head band, which would be frustrating? Should I not consider the light a "useful" head lamp as well for any reason?

Thank you.

The main difference when wearing the EOS Bike version on the headband is a little bit more weight, and slightly different balance due to the design of the quick release bracket. I think it works fine on the headband once you get everything adjusted (you might need to tighten the screw and hex nut on the hinge for example), but you might want to try one on before buying.

When I was comparing them at REI they were in cardboard non-sealed packaging, just ask them if it's okay to open one up and try it on with the headband. This type of packaging also allows you to compare tints :)

I have both and much prefer the standard one (non bike one). The extra thickness of the release clip thing does mess up the balance of the already frontheavy light.

I like to put my standard EOS onto my bike helmet (stretch the strap around the helmet) and secure it with zip-ties for night-time riding.

Hello Matt,

Thank you for your reply. I've decided to keep the bike EOS as a dedicated bike light and to pick up another for dedicated head lamp use. Thank you for your help.

Christian.

Good choice. I agree. I found the extra hardware made the bike headlamp a lot less comfortable and also the non-ratcheting adjustment tended to creep at times...

Hi Gunga, Thanks for the reply. I'm glad to read you agree. Having not seen/held either I still wasn't quite sure if it was right.
