Hi, I am looking for a modest capacity voltage regulator.

( EDIT - It is really a PWM controller for a brushless DC fan that I am looking for. I originally used the wrong terminology.

I was originally thinking about using a simple incan pwm controller for this. Still would probably work.

This is not for LED, so I don't need a current regulator.

I looked at taskled.com and it looks like right now he is only offering current regulators.

Nominal needs
~ 12 volt input
~ 1 amp or so
- ideally pretty rugged
- easy to connect up to, maybe a knob if possible
- PWM is fine
- Just need a couple of set points, but continuously variable is also fine.
- Prefer something more efficient than a variable resistance / potentiometer.
- SIMPLE interface.

There used to be a list of drivers on a web page somewhere. Feel free to just point me to it if you happen to know where it is.

Thanks

HarryN

Re: Voltage regulator

DCDC converters can be found so cheap you can buy a dozen for spares.

Heat-shedding potting compound and a heatsinked case. . .

Re: Voltage regulator

The power source will be either AA or 18650 pack - still thinking about it. Nominal 12 volt ish.

This particular item is for a brushless DC fan motor. Reducing voltage is one approach but they can be unstable at too low of voltage so the recommended approach is PWM control.

For this application, I want a good quality one from a professional, not a random amazon version.

Does anyone know where the list of drivers is?

Re: Voltage regulator

PWM dimmers are often used with LED strings, nominally 12 or 24V. I would bet Mean Well makes one, and they are pretty professional.

Hi John - thanks for the note. It has been a while since I updated my CPF profile, so I did that today, including my (newer) home page.

I still own the other web site but I haven't purchased an SSL certificate for it so google likes to imagine that it is unsafe.

Appreciate the heads up.
