Re: Q3\'s mother ?

how the 2 stage switch works?

does it cycle through low and high each time you activate the switch?

Re: Q3\'s mother ?

I am going to get one and pick it up personally for $35 w/o shipping /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: Q3\'s mother ?

We can change QIII to 2 stage switch by using 2 stage switch from another Nuwai flashlight.

Re: Q3\'s mother ?

It is so unlike me to purchase anything without really checking it out first,...

But I really liked the specs,...especially that it's 2-stage and only 5" (It does sound an awful lot like the X-33, but at less than 1/2 the price...too good to be true?...well I suppose I'll find out).

Anyway, I guess I had a knee-jerk response and I went for it. For $44, if it's even close to my Q-III, I'll be thrilled! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Just need to see if we can get AW to do a group buy /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

That's a great idea! If the switches between the QIII and this light are interchangeable, I'd be willing to pick up the 2 cell light just to cannibalize the two stage switch for my QIII. I love my QIII and carry it every day... with a 2-stage switch it would come close to perfection for a low-cost EDC light. The two-cell light with the QIII's old switch would then be relegated to glove box duty.

Sounds like a great idea to me...;)

Re: Q3\'s mother ?

Paul,

Any chance of a more detailed review? It looks like a really nice deal, great idea for mixing and matching the switches.

Re: Q3\'s mother ?

I got mine and it sure is the same maker of the Q-III. This one has a model no. TM301X-3 whereas QIII has a model. no. TM303. However, it is not as bright as my QIII, maybe 25% less brightness. Quite a disappointment for a 2 cell light! I tried changing the 2 stage switch to my QIII but it didn't work. Not as amazing as the QIII according to my experience. Maybe I got myself a lemon.

Re: Q3\'s mother ?

Bummer, maybe it's better quality control on the Nuwais.

Re: Q3\'s mother ?

The 2 stage switch works with a click to low, second click to high, click again off. The thread of the switch and the size is same as the QIII. However, when I put the 2 stage switch on my QIII, it won't work on low, I have to double click to high. I even popped out the switch board ( both looked exactly the same ) and changed it and it still won't work on low. Anybody can give me some advice on how to make this work?

So much for that idea. I was starting to get excited at the prospect of having a 2-level QIII as my EDC.
It's rather surprising though, they look so similar that one would expect the two switches to swap out easily. Is it that the threads are not compatible or are there internal differences that prevent the two-stage switch from working on the QIII?

Re: Q3\'s mother ?

I'd think you have to swap out the resistors if you're going to use the 2-stage on the one cell light from a 2 cell light... Just a thought...

Re: Q3\'s mother ?

So, now someone has to open 2 stage switch and change the resistor for lower value, maby it would work then in a Q3 /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Re: Q3\'s mother ?

I'm betting on internal differences - for the two-stage, there's either a resistor in there to allow the circuit to be completed, or else it engages the electronics in the other light to work in 'low' mode... and neither of those is present in the Q-III natively.

And if it says '301' in the model number, I'm betting it has a LuxI in there, just like the TM-301. At least Milkyspit's mod can give you two-stage functionality. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: Q3\'s mother ?

It says 3 Watt on the packing and the model no. ends with X3. Everything looks exactly like a QIII except the length. Just wondering why the 2 stage won't work on low /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/Christo_pull_hair.gif

Re: Q3\'s mother ?

The 2x123 light has a 100 ohm resistor in the tailcap. It is too much resistance for the Q3 on low-beam.
The Q3 mods are using resistor values about 10 ohms.
You should be able to just swap the resistor and use on the Q3(I have not tried this yet !)
AW, my 2x123 is about the same brightness as my Q3. I did notice that the reflector on the Q3 is a little more reflective.

that would be my guess too /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
for being less bright, then you should benefit in runtime, any actual/advertised runtime?

boy, i will be all over it if its brighter and runs long than Q-III /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
