Many if not most of you know what this is. At least one of the regulars, I forget who, in an old post from years ago that I can't find now, was critical of it, saying it wasn't worth it.
I'd been pretty careful with an LF QPQ smoothie since it arrived early March, but it has seen daily carry since on a Malkoff AA body. Yesterday, I completely fumbled it for the first time, and it dropped about 5 feet to the vinyl covered concrete floor, and bounced around. There was a mark, a long scratch on the bezel, and I just sighed and accepted it. Later, I was examining it, and the scratch was definitely visible. But then I rubbed it a little, and it was fainter, rubbed a little more and the scratch disappeared.
About 20 minutes ago, placing the light on its tail on top of the fridge, I clumsily fumbled it again, and it fell from fridge height, almost 6 feet, onto the same floor, and I watched as it landed at an angle on the bezel. I knew it would leave a bite, and it did, but it was more like a nibble. I could feel it with my finger. Examining it just now, I was consoling myself that though it was visible, it was barely. Rubbed it a little, and it completely disappeared. I'd swear it was there.
I don't know how it will hold up dropped on rough, naked concrete, and I hope I don't find out, but I am now an advocate of QPQ.
