13 May 2011 Friday:

We have just shipped to RMSK some QTC Logan HA key ring lights, he should
have them by Monday the 16th. Just finished machining some Eiger heads
and QTC bodies in HA and Brass. We will ship those to Bob by next Wednesday.
SS Eiger heads are machined, QTC knurled bodies soon.

We will also ship some bodies in HA and Brass. They are made for the AW17500
Lithium-Ion protected cells, (they are rated at 1100 mAh at 3.6 /3.7 volts).
These bodies are for any Peak light that uses the CR123A/RCR123A batteries.
Those include the Logan, Rainier and several others. They are shipped with the
QTC 'pill' included. That gives you the run time of a CR123A with the output of
the RCR123A battery. The increase in overall length is less than 5/8 ths inch,
or about 15 mm.

We will start making SS El Cap heads this weekend and then some Logan SS
heads right after. We have bare Aluminum El Cap heads waiting for bodies to
be machined. The Emco Maier 425 CNC lathe is set up for heads right now, so
bodies will have to wait until the heads are done. The Storm 80 CNC lathe is
making 4 x CR123A Law Enforcement bodies and the Ominturn is doing secondary
work. It had just finished machining the QTC 'pill' parts. The manual Hardinge
lathes have been reworking older bodies for the new QTC. The CNC Bridgeport
mill is routing out LED and power boards. I think that I will be caught up in about
two or three years. :(

Some how I need to finish the heads for the SR3000 lights, that one uses the
Luminus SST-90 LED, the Phoenix 83 mm reflector and the 38120 Lithium-Ion
batteries. The drive current will be at least 9 Amps and more than likely closer
to 11 Amps. :naughty:

Will the QTC pill portion be easily replaceable by the light owner? Will replacement parts be made available?

In another posting you cited that you tested the QTC pill for 1,000 operations. That is fewer than 3 on/off cycles per day for one year.

Thanks.

I have been able to open the 'pill' and reposition the QTC when it became off
center during assembly. There is a pocket in one of the Brass parts that the
QTC fits into. The other Brass part is snapped into the Delrin housing with a
0.005 inch interference. The QTC itself has a 0.101 dia hole punched into it
for the larger batteries and the slug is used in the 'pill' for the AAA battery
lights. This has been done to reduce the pressure required to operate the QTC.

The 1000 cycles were full compression. DWF finds that he uses full
power about 1/3 of the time and the rest is at a limited output.

Curt- If I read your first post right, Eiger AAA w/ QTC middle of next week? :) I'm there... AAA variable is #1 on my wish list!

 Awesome news Curt! Should we send coffee and sandwiches?
Great to hear all the machines are humming.

Can't wait for the lug bodies....

I'm waiting to hear from Dances about the real world use of the QTCs.:poke:

Thanks for the update, Curt! Looks like I'll be calling Bob next week to get a brass eiger body. This is truly the keychain light I've been waiting for. Peak durability, beautiful build quality, and variable levels.

Shipped some Brass QTC equipped Eigers to RMSK yesterday, he should have
them by Monday 23 May 2011. The SS CR123A key ring style knurled bodies
are coming off the lathe and we hope to get them off to Bob by the 25th. We
are drilling out the SS Eiger heads now, but it will be a week until we can get
them machined. We will run some SS AA El Cap bodies right after them.

This looks like an interesting product!
How do I contact you to buy this? with PM's?
Any Cost and/or specifics I can look at?

Thanks! This QTC technology looks fantastic. The amount of amps its able to transfer along with no para static drain is a win win.

Curt might be a bit busy at the moment (although you could try.... info is on the Peak Solutions website).

Your best bet is to talk to Bob at RMSK, Peak's authorized distributer. He can answer your questions. Here's a link to his website:

At this point in time we are not selling individual bodies, only complete
flashlights until we can build up inventory.

Bob spends a lot of time on his computer and has a new chat pgm for
real time info to your questions. The pgm gives him a flag if he is working
on something else, if he is on line or when he returns to the computer.

Doing some QTC SS knurled CR123A pocket bodies today.

Working on Saturday!!!!?

Thanks Curt! It's greatly appreciated!

The Logan QTC SS key ring lights are 2.95 inches OAL and the
Logan QTC SS pocket lights are 2.4 inches OAL. We will run a
12 foot bar of them, about 60 bodies tomorrow and finish on
Monday. Start on the 17500 KR bodies on Monday, but I'm off
to the Lake Tuesday when the drunks are not out there for
some R & R.

Ok, I'm confused (from RMSK):

  • Logan HA QTC: 3.3" x .78"
  • Logan Brass Pocket (non QTC): 2.5" x .78"
Is the Logan QTC SS key ring shorter than the Logan HA QTC key ring?
Is the Logan QTC SS pocket shorter than the Logan Brass (non QTC) pocket?

 - Jas.

The QTC Logan KR length of 2.95 is without the key ring adapter
in place. The Pocket version is 2.65 inches long, my mistake.

Hey Curt and Bob,

When can we expect any stainless El Capitan's with the QTC? This would seem to be the best bombproof EDC to me. I can't wait! :)

Jonesy I believe that they are going to start on the QTC in SS El Caps this week or next. I sure hope so I have been out of SS El Caps for a long time.

I'm hoping that the QTC Logans in SS and brass and QTC Eiger in SS should be arriving at your doorstep any day now?
Oh, and I'd like to QTC momentary switches too please. :)

Guys I will post when I get an order in of the new QTCs. I should get the
Logans either Thursday or Friday in SS and other goodies also
Thanks
Bob
