Working night shift, I use my AE HID Powerlight every evening, but now looking for a smaller light for every night use. I've heard great things about LEDs (brightness VS. battery life, etc.)

Any help for a Newbee in the LED field?

OMG Lumens "DEFT"?? Is this truly the longest throw LED?

Just looking for one of the best, and any input is appreciated greatly!!

Cost isn't that much of an issue since it's for work & will be deducting year end for this light!!

Thanks for any recommendation

There are so many to choose from right now it can make your head spin. Do a lot of reading here, figure out what you want(size, beam type, user interface, tint, battery type, and so on), and how much you want to spend. Be careful not blow too much money when you find out how many cool lights there are out there.

I'm a relative newb here, but I've found that I like 18650 and cr123 multipower lights, the beam profile of a Malkoff drop in, and the simple user interface with a twist head providing a high and low with a forward clicky. I am also really starting to like warmer tints so I'm waiting for a M60W.

the OMG lumens is a high quality custom made LED flashlight.. it is indeed the best thrower you can get out there.

however, there are also some super throw HID lights you can buy... if budget is not an issue.. take a look at polarion.. though some companies may take notice of those price tags. those polarions are decently sized, too.

Of all the lights I own, factory & custom, I always seem to prefer my RA lights most of the time, it's simply an amazing light imo and it's always on me!!

The DEFT is probably the longest throwing led light, but the light is not useful for all application, only for some very specialized tasks.

No ordinary led light will match a 35 watt HID light, but they surpass 10 watt HID lights.

Try looking at some of my beamshots of different led lights, this here is the newest: http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?t=235243

Other can be found in other threads here or on my homepage.
