I'm seriously considering buying a Q123 tactical to replace my microstream for pocket EDC. I'm looking at it because of it's compact size, power, beam profile, the AWSOME UI, and it's good value. Does anybody have any thoughts on this light?

:welcome: very nice light from what i hear on this site. they are loved and are a great light for the money. just do a search and you will find many good reviews. plus 47's is a fine company who takes pride in their products and customer service and is a member here also. i will have one in my collection sometime. i just bought a quark mini 123 and love it. lotta light comes out of that little thing, quite amazing actually. you cant go wrong with any of their products.

Hi Arcmay- I have a Quark tactical 123. I'll say up front this is my first "real" flashlight of this type and I have no others to compare it to, so take it for what it's worth from me. However, I really like this flashlight. I wanted something small for work that wouldn't break the bank but with a good rep'. After a lot of searching here on CPF I ended up with mine and really love it. It's small, amazingly bright, easy to operate, well-made and 4-Seven's was great to deal with. I use low and high modes but there are 7 to choose from and making the choice is quite easy. For me it's a great light!

well i have the neutral warm 2AA quark tactical...

its a good instant on light...and i like to keep the lighton its high settings just incase... but my only personal problem with the light is the UI...sometimes i like to use 3 lumens other times 18 lumens and i always keep max on atleast one of them...so i went to buy a reg quark single AA light taht way i can flip thru the modes faster than programing it each time...

but if u want instant on and constant level, then this light should be fine =]

i just got a preon and its awsome too.. much widder hot spot..so i find it more useful up close and at a distance of 5 feet or less ( thats as about as far as i use my lights anyhow so i cant speak on it being any further yet,i just got it yesterday )

I have a neutral white Quark 123 Tactical. It has a great beam, and to me, the tint is perfect. I've carried mine quite a bit, and my only problem with it is, I wish the clip was bezel down and deeper carry.

If you plan to regularly use more than 2 modes, consider the standard Quark. The tactical can be a bit of a hassle to reprogram. But, I can recommend it. It's a very nice light.

Don't hesitate, I have a Ti Q123T and love it. I own about a dozen other 123 based lights and this is one of the best for brightness and ease of use.

You can simply reverse the head and tail cap to change to head up or down.

Thanks everyone, you've made my decision a lot easier.

I use momentary on a lot, so having to cycle through the modes to get to the one I want all the time would be a big hassle. I'll probably program it with high mode for outdoors and low mode for indoors. Now, all I have to do is decide if I want a clip or not!

IMO, better to have the clip and not need it than need the clip and not have it. You might as well get the clip. I can't see why you wouldn't.

Depends how you're going to use the light.

I very rarely clip anything to anything, so in my case I would prefer it without the clip. Nevertheless I can see why someone else might want one.

The great design on the larger Quarks allows you to reverse or remove the clip, but the single 123 is too small so you have to decide at purchase time.

I have a clipless 123 Tactical and I'm happy with it. It rides fine in my front pocket. One thing to consider when you're deciding on clip/no clip - if you buy the 123 with clip and decide you don't like it you can always order another body (sans clip) for $20. But they don't sell 123 bodies with clip. Just some food for thought...

but isn't the clip part of the head for the single 123? buying a whole new head can be expensive..
