i want to get a quark aa with the warm led and the only ones left available are the tactical. what is the difference, besides the inability to tailstand, which i dont like. im usually not a tactical light guy, i just want something nice and clean and simple. is this a light that will work for me? are there many differences?

If you read up on the UI's of each, I find the tactical is simpler. Two programmed modes of your choice selected by a tight or loose bezel. So yes! You know you want it. Mines in the mail hopefully.

Nice, clean and simple is the Quark tactical. The inability to tailstand does stink, but I love my AA neutral tactical, I'm sure you will too.

You can get the regular tailcap for $9 shipped from 4sevens if the ability to tailstand is important to you. While there you can check out the 1xCR123 tube, maybe the 2xAA tube, make it your flashlight for all occasions.

i think i'd rather have the fenix like mode selection of the other quark. we already have two modes "readily" available anyways. are they only available "used" now?

You can also try the European distirubutor at http://www.4sevens.pl. They had some neutral white 2x123's (regular UI) in stock a couple days ago. I bought one from them a couple days ago, as it was the only place I could find it in stock. The shipping charge to the US was very reasonable, and it was shipped the same day I placed my order. They may have some other neutral white models in stock, but I didn't check that. Good luck.

EDIT: I just checked the .pl web site, and all the neutral white models appear to be in stock as of now.

I don't care for multiple modes usually, and was very leery of a light that required "loosening" the bezel, but I'm pretty sold on the Quark tactical UI. I'm used to the low/high or high/low of the E2L and E2DL, which I'm ok with, but I like being able to choose the mode ahead of time, and the ability to program the desired levels. It's as simple as it gets, except you get two modes.

thanks for the link. 5 minutes later and $83 dollars richer here i am. i think i'll wait for one to pop up in marketplace.
