Just wondering where the Aussies on this site purchase their flashlights (torch as we call them).

Do you guys source them locally or buy from overseas? Which do you find cheaper?

Also does anyone know how long it takes for a delivery to arrive from 4sevens (to Australia) without selecting the extra postage options (ie. priority or express).

Anywhere really... Some aussie dealer are torchworld.com.au and extremetorches.com.au. There are also dealers with cheap/free shipping from overseas such as lighthound, 4sevens, shiningbeam, sandwich shop, goinggear, battery station eBay etc.

4sevens use first class. It can take a week or 2.

For myself, I have bought mainly from 4Sevens, Ebay and sometimes from Group buys on CPF. If I really want a light, i will pay shipping, but normally try to keep it around no more than USD$15 to $20.

I have bought a few from DX as gifts too. I find the cheaper lights on DX not as reliable as the better brands on CPF, like Fenix, Nitecore, Lumapower etc.

There are a few online Australian dealers, but i haven't bought off them. I never buy from a local store here anymore, because there are hardly any good ones in the stores anyway at a reasonable price.

When factoring the price of the torch plus shipping. It normally works out still 50% less than what I can find in the stores here. The strong exchange rate of the aussie dollar makes the purchasing power alot stronger, which creates even bigger savings.

4Sevens shipping, after receiving the notification of shipped status, i normally receive items in 5 to 7 working days.

Personally, I've bought most of my torches from sellers on ebay. One in Australia, a couple of others in Hong Kong. Just put my first small toe in the water with 4Sevens the other night.

I've bought LedLenser, fenix, Ultrafire and Nitecore. Several of each.

The ones out of hong kong were substantially cheaper than the equivalent torches from Australia sellers and take about eight days to get to me.

I've not bought any torches sent priority out of the US but have bought some watches sent USPS Priority and they tend to take at least a week.

B/S/T forums (CPFMarketplace and CPF Custom) - good for almost anything you want.
47's, Lighthound etc
Not much on ebay though.

Cheers,
Nova

ps. who is the third unmentionable?

Hi, Just going through this process as i speak. I have bought of ledtorches and have been very happy with his service (Marco) especially when my zebralight had problems. Its was nice to be able to talk to an aussie and ask questions and get answers because its not like we can go into a shop and pick one up. However for xmas im wanting about 10 torches for presents and with the dollar so good it works out to be nearly double to buy the same torches here. I am not sure on the shipping times though and another thing that I just found was there may be duties/taxes put on when they come through customs. I was literaly entering in payment details when I saw this and now need to look in to it a bit more. Any Aussies delt with Battery Juction here, if so how long did it take for your order to get here. Cheers Chris

No problems dealing with Battery Junction Matt is very good to deal with, you should be right with customs so long as the total package price is under A$1000, shipping time is generally about 10 days.

So far I have purchased a TK40 from Torchworld and their customer service is very good. The TK40 arrived with one of the die not working on the lowest setting. They are replacing it and have shipped out a new one, which should arrive in a couple of days. I would buy from these guys again.

I have also purchased a Quark AA2 Turbo from 4Sevens. After I paid for it its status changed to shipped after only a couple of hours. I should receive that by the end of next week if you guys are right...

Assuming you are not a commericial importer, if your package is less than a thousand in value and comes by mail there will be no duties or taxes. Australian Customs have a very nice exemption policy for those that meet those three conditions.

Great there goes another couple of hundred dollars lol, Now just see if it gets here by xmas.

I have ordered from Lighthound, and bought from other flashaholics on CPFMP
those are the only places i have ordered from, everything else has been from local dealers (shops in perth)

I've only bought a few lights in the last six months, so I could probably easily name them here:

  • 4Sevens - Quark, Preon, EagleTac T10L & T20C2

  • Battery Junction - ThruNite Catapult (shipped last Monday, hasn't arrived yet)
  • eBay - Solarforce L2r
  • LED Torches - found their Fenix diffusers to be the cheapest. They even sent it to me by Express Post!
  • DX - the odd throw away LED light
As for other things like batteries, chargers and whatnot:

  • Li-ions - DX
  • Maha Charger - one from a nice Australian eBay dealer and PhotonLight (bought two of them)
  • Sanyo eneloops - eBay
DX delivery times are well documented here, so you might as well do a search. As for the US based dealers, they take up to 10 business days to deliver the goods to my door.

Do checkout the sticky over in the CPF MarketPlace here. It has nearly all (??) the dealers that provide a discount to CPF members. Just visit each one and see if they do international delivery.

I'v purchased multiple times from four7's, battery junction and lighthound.
No problems with any of them and great aftersales service from 2 of them secondary to my rough use of the products. Delivery has taken 1 to 2 weeks but usually takes longer at this time of the year.

I forgot about Wolfeyes. They are the go to place for Lumens Factory lamp assemblies for your P60 hosts.

Cheers,
Nova

CPF/CPFM B/S/T I've found is the best place... I've also bought from Lighthound and 4Sevens...
There's also the option of buying directly from the manufacturer in the case of ones like Malkoff, shipping is exxy so if you wanna buy off B/S/T there's often lower priced, but I like speaking directly to the manufacturer and Gene's awesome to deal with! :twothumbs
I've actually never had any experience with the australia stores like torchworld or extremetorches... but from what I hear they're pretty damn good.

I mainly buy Tiablo A9's & Dereelights DBS's. I've modified them for night hunting/shooting for a few people.

The Tiablo's I've either purchased them from Torchworld or secondhand from CPF members on the marketplace. The Dereelight's from the marketplace or order them direct from Dereelight's website.
Parts such as emitters etc I get from Cutter who are a bit hot on the postage & handling.
