Hey guys, I have a question about my P60 drop-in I just received (again) from OpticsHQ. It's their TLS drop-in kit with the LED Module and Tail-Cap.

The kit is great and everything is fine except that they still use the Cree Q5 (I assume it's an XR-E?). I am wondering how to upgrade to a new R5 and make this thing really shine.

First, are there any really specific tutorials showing how to take apart the pill, and replace it? I believe this would require soldering correct?

If this is pretty difficult and could potentially go beyond the point of no return (break it beyond repair), is there any member out there willing - and able - to do this for cheap? I paid $89 for the kit, and I don't want that price to go much beyond $100 with the labor/R5 pill.

What should I do?

Thanks in advance and sorry if this is the wrong section...

If you take the reflector off your drop-in you should see the platform that the emitter is on. You can just swap that platform out for the platform with the emitter you want and resolder the positive and negative wires. Or you could remove the old q5 emitter and replace it with the r5 (soldering). Though I'm not sure how that would fit or it it works. I don't have much experience with the R5 emitters so I cant say for sure. As for the MC-E emitters. Nailbender sells a MC-E drop-in as well as Dealextreme (I would swap out the driver on this one).

brianch,

Thanks for the tips. I did take the reflector off so I saw the emitter and the platform it was on. I have no clue though about what comes next.

Again, is there any YouTube tutorials or instructions from other DIY'ers on CPF?

Or are there any members who can do this?

Thanks,
RC
