R123A on incandescent bulb

Candle Power Forums

Help Support Candle Power:

i read 1,3 amps on the tl-3 with fresh batts so with 2 R123A is only slight underdriven... very good!!!!!!

now i think to upgrade my dorcy spyder with the tl-3 bulb and my 6P with a P90 and my TL-3 with... with? MN60 or a welch allyn?

and for my TT 1-L? the original bulb can blow? i must put a welch allyn 3,3V bulb?

ok the runtime is low... about 20-25 mins but it is the same of an ordinary P61 or P91 LA... and this is rechargeable /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Since we are at it, can I ask, if I am to use 3 R123s in a 2C M@glite mod, with a 6cell whitestar kpr bulb, will the bulb flash? Do I have to look for other bulbs instead?

depend on the voltage drop of this type of batteries... someone know how the voltage drop under a load of 0,85amp (mag bulb) and under 1,3amp (xenon tactical lights)?

i see that the ordinary 3V cr123a under 1,3amps of load output only 2,5v when new and 2,3v aftef few minutes

I guess the only way to find out is to try /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/naughty.gif

So has anybody tested using the Batterystation r123's. I am curious about performance of Tl-2 using Tl-3 bulb and r123's. Slightly less performance at half the runtime?

why you say "Slightly less performance at half the runtime?"?

in a small tl-2 you can have the output of a tl-3 and the runtime is about the same of a P61. and more this is rechargeable and the voltage-drop is more flat.

finally if in the future they can do 1000ma or more R123A there isn't more reason for use CR123A /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I just said less performance because I figured the light output would be less given the two r123's are 8.4 volt and tl-3 bulb is 9 volts. Glad to hear this works!! I am going to order a Tl-2 then. Just got my QIII and R123's today. Awesome!! First luxeon and really impressed with white light. Since I ordered extra r123's for Q III, I was curious of a combo to use them in higher powered incandescent light. So the Tl-3 bulb in Tl-2 seems perfect. BTW, I have a Twin Task 2L. Would the Tl-3 bulb or any other fit in TT 2L using r123? Or would it be too much on the leds in it? Thanks Showed my QIII to a guy at work who is in national guard and he was like, wow what the heck is that, it is so bright!

Forgot to ask about any problems you have had running 2 r123's together? I read on batterystation site there may be some. Also, this may be stupid question but is it possible to run 2 123's together with one being regular and the other a rechargeable. For example in TT 2L, that would run a stock bulb at 7.2 volts (3 +4.2).

I wouldn't do it if I were you. R123 and CR123 have different internal resistance, running them in series is very hazardous.

I run 2xR123 in the Nuwai ALX-352L. It loves rechargeables. And the brightness is unbelievable. Nuwai states that the light was made to use R123.

I use batterystations R123's just to let you know.
