OK, maybe Maglite (AA, incandescent) is not "the" light for many of you here, but I have one in the lab at work and for my needs it was just fine. I think I left it ON one day and it drained the rayovac AAs until one leaked. not it's all white powder inside.

Will Rayovac replace it? is it even worth trying?

It is worth it. I had a 2C Mag ruined by Ray-O-Vacs (not that they have any higher failure rate than any other brand) and sent in the light with the bad batts, and the postage receipt from the post office (they will tape it shut there). ROV sent me a check for the retail price of the light, my postage and a new pair of batteries. Mag will replace it too, but they won't give you the new batteries. They have a standing agreement with ROV, Duracell and Eveready for reimbursment for lights damaged by their batteries. I chose the battery manufacturer just because I could also get new batteries. Now I wish I had taken advantage of this for all of the Mags I had wrecked by the Energizers that came with them.

Vinegar will clean it up, completely.

looks like alkaline batteries leak more often than I thought... do NiMH also leak?
