As noted in various threads on CPF, the battery date code page at CPF Wiki, and on the Battery Station CPF page, the fourth character in the Rayovac date code format is the country of origin: "O" being USA, "Y" being China.
I recently picked up some Rayovac Hybrid C cells that are different in appearance from the Rayovac Hybrid C cells that first came to market (but are still 3000 mAh cells): the new ones have a white spacer on the top of the cell, a small inward dimple on the positive contact, and a totally flat negative end.
The original versions of the Hybrid C & D cells were made in China ("Y" in the date code).
This new pair of cells has a date code of MBJJ.
That equates to a date of December 10, 2009, but what country does "J" stand for?
We could take a SWAG and say it's Japan, but is that correct?
