I think the main problem with Rebels is their small size, hard to hand solder, and according to this thread, the Cree Q5 should out perform the Rebel 100. But the Rebel will probably give you a better tint and a better beam.

Yeah, tri or quad Rebel 100 in a standard P60 dropin would be excellent choice.

You could probably rig up a tri rebel in a p60 housing without too much work!
