I have just taken a battery pack apart from a dell laptop (18 months old) that was destroyed. The pack wasn't hurt but the display was torn off from a fall. The pack contains 8 cells that look like 123's just slightly larger diameter. I did a little searching and I'm assuming that 18650's are what's put into the laptops. I assume these are probably unprotected cells. Each cell has JCDFJT4 on it. The packs rated 14.4v 4400mah.

Now if this is what they are what lights will these fit into?

Thanks
Randy

Yeah! They are probably 18650 cells. 2 parallel series of 4 cells. 2200 mAh per cell, 3.6V per cell. I would first measure the voltage of each cells to be sure they are still good. If they are under 2.75V-3V open voltage, they are probably not safe to use.

Excellent! Since they are not protected, just be careful not to discharge them below 3V! If you want a nice light, check for the Wolf-Eyes Defender II 2 levels, HO! The brightness will drop enough before the cell reach 3V on high, and on low, the LED will only dimly glow before reaching 3V. A nice, bright 2 levels LED light that runs best on 18650 cells. Contact CPF member Glen C if you are interested.

Thanks for the info wildchlid. I may have a few more battery packs in the next couple of weeks so I'll look at these lights.
