See, anyone who asks the question you just asked should not have D size lithium ions in their hands, on account of the danger from mishandling.
Fortunately, ordinary shops do not sell big lithium ion cells or chargers to consumers for this very reason, so you are safe from harm. :thumbsup:

There is a bit of a danger in this forum where some battery configurations are described with an expectation that they will be used in the hands of experienced users who know what they are doing. Because of this the dangers are not always mentioned, and that can mislead the inexperienced into assuming that everything you can do is safe.
I would suggest that if you are building a 2D ROP as your first custom mod, then you should use a 6 AA NiMH cell configuration rather than 2 D lithium ion cells. It is a much more accessible and safer power source.
