Red LED in Fenix E01 or Arc AAA?

My red LED Arc AAA never worked right, so I returned it. It was replaced by a white LED light and a statement that Arc no longer makes a red LED light.

I really want a decent quality single AAA red LED light, so it looks like I'll have to mod a white LED light to get one. I don't want it to be bright, so the host would have a 5mm LED rather than a power LED.

I'm wondering if anybody has tried modding an Arc AAA, Fenix E01, or other similar single AAA 5mm LED light, and can comment on how difficult it is to get it apart. I've modded a lot of Luxeon, Cree, and SSC emitter lights, from L0P on up, and a few 5mm LED headlamps, so the modding process isn't a problem -- just getting it apart without complete destruction is the only issue. It'll be a working light, so it doesn't matter if the process leaves some scars.

Any suggestions?

Yeah, Peak are the only company I can think of for this. They will also do, Blue, cyan, pink, RGB, as well as red, but not amber for some reason.

Just give Robyn a ring and she'll sort you out - It won't be speedy but it will be great and just what you want.

Resurrecting thread. The Matterhorn is no longer available. I also am looking for single AAA sized, single LED colored flashlights, especially red, but also seeking other colors, amber, green, blue... it would be interesting to find a single led multi-mode multi-color led light.

The old Arc made an RGB light ( http://ledmuseum.candlepower.us/arcrgb.htm ) but it was silly, the color cycles could not be controlled, could not use a single color intentionally, seems more like concert swag than a sellable product. I see there are some old Arcs for sale on CPFM, but I'm not looking for a collector's item, though admittedly if I can't find an AAA red led solitaire, I may seek that expensive solution.

I find it difficult to believe that the new Arc sees no profitability in colored led flashlights, as implementing multiple colored LEDs in an older product design such as the Arc AAA should not be expensive to manufacture and market. I do understand the pressure it puts on a company to have too many products, and reducing the catalog to the essentials may have been what saved the new Arc, idk.

But I am perplexed as to the quantity, variety, and quality of small led flashlights available in the market, which means there is a market to support such a large amount of manufacturers, and yet finding (small single AAA sized) colored LED flashlights is so difficult.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

There is a seller in the marketplace with a good variety of the old Arc colored lights for sale right now.

Peak will make lights with colored LEDs special order. Just email Robyn and ask.
