I'm about to pull the trigger on this ROP build, my first ever flashlight build BTW. I'm going to get the pelican bulb and the UCL lens at lighthound. I've seen so many reflectors at so many different places it aint even funny. I want a good smooth beam it doesn't have to have a super amount of throw, this will be a general purpose light, like for when the power goes out in the house, and for going outside at night. Well I don't know if that helps to decide what percentage of orange peeling I want. Sorry. Mabye if I saw some beam shots I could figure out what I want. I have been trying to search this type of thing on the forum, but the search engine isn't wanting to cooperate with me :(. Also do I want a cam or camless reflector?

I would say to go with a light stipple. You should get a relatively smooth beam with this while still retaining a little throw for the outdoor usage. If you go to a heavy stipple it becomes almost total flood. Because you will be retaining the standard bulb holder get a cammed reflector and the standard mag focus remains. Make sure the reflector hole is big enough for the bulb.

Ok that helps :). I'll get a cammed reflector. Could you link me to the best place to get a light stipple (stipple is the orange peel effect)? Is the soda shop the best place to get them? Because they are like $25, that's a bit high for me but if there is a notable difference in the cheaper ones and this one I'll pay the extra.

Stipple and orange peel are different the grades of the reflector's go like this with most throw down to most flood
Smooth
Light orange peel (LOP)
Medium orange peel (MOP)
Heavy orange peel (HOP)
Light stipple (LS)
Medium stipple (MS)
Heavy stipple (HS)
I buy my reflectors from Litho123(not sure if he still sells them) who is a forum member but these are camless. I don't know a good source for cammed reflectors but i think that $25 is not to bad a price. I would recommend asking on the forums if anyone has got one that they are willing to part with. My personal favourite is the LOP on my mag85 but i only use mine outside where i want throw.

I think you probably already know this but make sure it is a metal reflector you are getting because the ROP will melt plastic reflectors

For the uses you describe get the MOP. Its a shame that they don't do all the flavours of the reflectors. I've found the MOP to be still quite good in the throw department with a smoothish beam. I still think you would better with a LS reflector but at that price if it was me i would just get the MOP.
