A while back there was a thread about lights on guns. One poster remarked that a remote controlled light would work as well and would draw fire away from the holder of the firearm.
This got me thinking. I've been trying to come up with a way to inexpensively remote control some lights. The idea would be to have several big ol' 6 volt lanterns that all come on when I push a button on a hand-held remote. These could all be aimed at the entrance(s) from different positions.
This would be easy to do using an X-10 system but I figure that a cut electric line could disable it.
I trust RF remotes over IR. The problem is that the only RC modules that I can find are for RC cars, planes, etc and have a much greater cost and capability than is needed.
Is anyone aware of a source for really cheap stuff that would do this?

I used this on a pendant when I cared for my father. If I was any where near the house it would trigger an alarm mounted out side my house to let me know I needed to get back inside ASAP!
It was wired to a plug in transformer that powered the alarm. You could wire your lights to a lighting contactor and have them all come on when you pushed the button from upto 1200 feet.

Just a thought remember you need one with the wireless receiver included.

Dr Jekell, those are really nice but out of my price-range.
I then got looking at the pendant that kabkbak7321 gave a link to and suddenly realized that what I need is a wireless doorbell. DX has quite a few, some even look like cats, chickens, etc..lol.
Finally at Amazon I found one that even has 2 receivers.
It'll take me a while but I'm going to do this.

Awhile back allelectronics.com had a rain sensor transmitter and receiver for like 6 bucks. It had some awesome reviews, was getting crazy range on it. I wanted it for an alarm trigger. But, before I could buy it, they sold out :(
They still have the transmitter only, for $2.50 if you could come up with a receiver.

Here is the link to the sold out item, I keep hoping they will get more.
1/4 mile range!
