Has anyone removed the rubber grip on the new Princeton Tec Tec 40 and Impact XL? If the grip is removed, are there marks or indentations where the grip used to be - can you tell there was a grip there before? Also is the plastic body underneath just like the older Tec 40?

I bought a Tec 40 and Impact XL about the same time a few years ago. The Tec 40 had no rubber grip and was smooth all over. The XL had a rubber grip.

I doubt if you'll find any "grips" under the rubber if stripped off.

I was hoping there wouldn't be anything under the rubber, just smooth plastic like the old Tec 40's.

You guys are gonna make me go out and buy one just to rip the rubber grip off. :ironic:

Actually, i have an Impact XL. Had it for a year now.

When i first looked at it, i had some "doubts" about that
rubber over-grip staying on securely.

After all, it's just GLUED on.

But now, at least with MY sample, i'm totally convinced
that it's NOT gonna' loosen, or come off. (accidently)

And it DOES provide a superior, non-slip grip, compared to the older Tec-40.

Under all conditions !

Even with gloves on.

Or when yer' hands are slippery from cleaning fish.

BTW, i paid $30 for mine, from BrightGuy.

Last i heard, the Yellow body model is on sale at $25.

Oh, and be advised that it is now Officially sanctioned
by the manufacturer:

Energizer L91 Lithium cells are approved for use in this flashlight.

Certainly not a powerhouse of a light. Mfr. states 17 Lumens.

But very rugged, durable, and Totally WaterProof to 100 Meters !

I really like mine.
