Hello, This is my first post in this CPF region! :)

I hope some of you can help me out.

So i'm looking to replace an 150w R7s, halogen tube/thing - it doesn't say anything on the light, but i think it's halogen. It's 118mm in length.

How much light do these put out, more or less?

What are my options technology wise, CFL? Is this what people regard as the most efficient bulbs right now, and do they emit as much light as halogen?

TIA!

I will try to fix the CPF links in the next 2 weeks or until I give up in frustration. Can not do that and verify with CPF down.

I just googled a 150w R7 halogen bulb and got 2800 lumens as a output at 120vac and 220vac. Is this correct anyone? Those type of bulbs are usually used for brief periods of time as they are not very energy efficient.

What type of light fixture is this? work light, security light, etc. Also are you looking to try and shoehorn something in the current fixture or just something to replace the light output in general. CFL would definitely be more energy efficient, but it really depends on what you are using this light for?

The lamp sits on the wall, for general lighting in the living room, and only allows light up or down, not sideways.

So i was thinking of replacing it with two CFL's, one pointing up, the other down. Makes sense?

Sounds like it would work ok... Got a picture of the fixture it'self?
