Well, I just concluded my runtime test with the 27LT-S w/ AW protected 17670. I do not have a light meter yet(one on the way!), so I just did an observation by eye with the light on high, tailstanding.
It looked like it held it's regulation inbetween 2.5-3hrs, then had diminishing output from there on out. At the 4hr mark, my UV1J PD on low was brighter than the 27LT-S, and at 5hrs I gave up as the light appeared to only be putting out about 3-5 lumens.
I am extremely impressed with this lights capabilities. Not only is the body nearly indestructable(yet extremely pleasant in hand), the beam profile is the best out of any of my single LED lights. Put together the durability, balance of size/weight, beam pattern, and amazing output/runtime, I now have decided to EDC this light along with either my UV1J PD or HDS that I already carried. I was extremely suprised at just how "small" this light is. From looking at the pictures, for some reason I was picturing it to be a bit larger in person. But suprisingly, it is still very pocketable.....not much different feeling than say an A2. With that discovery, I now carry this light in my left front pocket, with the PD or HDS in my usual EDC location(front right pocket).
Once I get my light meter and play with it a bit, I plan on doing quite a few runtime tests on my most used lights, while monitoring the output. I will post my new results when the time comes. Thanks again Don for building such a wonderful cutting edge light...this light gets a huge :twothumbs !!!!
