I'm just wondering if anyone running e.g. WA01185 or something more powerful with li-ion has experienced problems with batteries overheating? For example PTC cutting in or even worse :poof:

It just occurred to me that the light will get very hot if left to run continuously and li-ion doesn't like to run hot.

My Mag85 runs 3 C sized (AW) Li-ions. Never had any problem with them venting. The only issue I ever had with the PTC, was when I was using the light as a strobe and it just stopped working all of a sudden. I let it sit for about 30 seconds and then it worked just fine again.

As far as the heat build-up, it seems to be mainly in the head and right around the neck of the light. Not that much heat travels all the way down the body of the light, so I don't think the batteries really get exposed to too much heat.

Thanks for the reply evil twin. Now I'm wondering if this would be a problem in a cut-down mag mod (with tail switch) where the batteries were much closer to the head?
