Flashlight present for a friend.
Knows nothing about batteries so CR123 lights are out of the question, will probably only ever use it on alkalines, would get highly confused by a multimode light.
And it has to be cheap because I can't afford to give away $50 flashlights.

I've had a look at DX's offers and came up with these two.

Which one would you choose and why?

I've dropped my MTE several times and it still works. I recommend it.

I need to start a ticket with DX for my Saik that's been on order since December.

A number of the DX reviews for each have comparisons between these two lights in them.

FallingWater, I just had a post about these two lights ... along with a third Romisen light ... in the other thread in the General Flashlight subforum about women & flashlights. Both are really good picks. :twothumbs

The MTE has a warmer, slightly pink tint to it. The SAIK light is whiter, maybe a tad brighter and probably has better build quality. The SAIK might also be a bit heavier ... but I'm nitpicking here. You can't go wrong with either if they are anything like the examples I have recieved from DX.

Romisen makes the SAIK? Figures. It really is quite nice. :D
