Time to modernize it. This watch has been through hell and back. I bought it YEARS ago and it has never let me down yet. I'm finally pulling it out of retirement and slapping on a Maratac band adapter and ZULU band. Stay tuned..

I just pulled out my old G-Shock from about 9 years ago, still working fine and still had battery from a battery change years and years ago! (i cant even remember when the last battery change was) the time was shown, but the battery wasnt strong enough to light it up.

My G-Shock is 17+ years old and is still running fine on its original battery!

The reason: I have never used the backlight, except when watch was brand new just to check that it worked OK.

Casio G-Shocks are awesome watches!

Main problem I've had with plastic Casios is that the little holes for the spring pins get worn out, and the bands then keep falling off. What's a Maratac band adapter? Maybe I should get some.
