Just got 12 Sanyo 2300 AA cells and ALL of them are duds. i charged them up and it only took 10 minutes. no worries. i later put them in a fenix L2D on Medium and within 10 minutes they were dead. with 10 more to play with, i tried them all and got the same thing. i ran them all through TWO WHOLE conditioning cycles and that did not help at all. anyone else hear of this? i have about 30ish 2700s and 20 eneloops and never had any problem. i believe this is just a freak thing. anyone else have this kind of problem?

Wow! Kind of ususual I think to get that many bad ones at a time. Were they in 3 separate 4 packs?

Hello Vio765,

Did you happen to check the voltage of the cells before you charged them?

It sounds like you got some old stock that had been in storage for an extended period of time. If this is the case, the voltage dropped low from self discharge causing damage to the cell.

You may want to classify them as crap cells and try to get a refund.

i didnt check the voltage. but i used a ZTS pulse load battery meter before i did anything and got 40-80% on all of them. i have to contact batteryjunction and ask for an exchange. i might be better off to fork over an extra $20 an get eneloops. they probably move so fast that anyone that orders them gets the freshest available, especially from Matt. that place is like the Mal-Wart of eneloops.

You charged them ten minutes at what rate? If it wasn't like 15A then no surprise they are not charged.

not sure about the rate, but i was using a Powerex Ultimate Professional Charger. This charger cost me $90 and works very well. I "soft charged" them. the owner's manual says the "rapid charging" works at 2 amps. i dont know what the soft charging amps are.
