But when the plumber shows up to fix a leaky pipe under your house and his corded trouble light poops out on him, and you want your plumbing fixed, what flashlight would you hand him?

How about a pair of 3D Mag's with Mag LED's?

He and his assistant were very grateful for the use of the lights and I knew I didn't have to worry about run time or fragile lights breaking.

Now, would you have handed him your favorite Fenix, NovaTac, SureFire, Jet-Beam? Hmmmmmm.....?

My plumber is also my ex-apartment manager and one of my best friends. I'd hand him a Beast if he asked for it :)

if he was fixing the toilet pipes i wouldnt give him any light ,touching god knows what :sick2::crackup:...hmmm i better save one of those old cheap plastic 99 cent throw away light just for this occasion

I would have handed the service person one of my Fenix loaners. Heck my SF L1 gets tossed around work a lot but then again thats with co-workers.

Not to say anything abd about the Fenix, they are nice lights at a reasonable price that won't cause me much grief when I lose it (heck I lost my Surefire U2 a year ago when I left it in the chemistry lab, got it back the next week because all those scientists couldn't figure out how to turn it on (had it on lock out.))

Yeah, that's a good job for a Mag. I have some others too. I have a S&W Galaxy 9.

However, I'd have no problem loaning my G2's out. They're rugged and mostly idiot proof.

Without an ounce of hesitation. Even if he were to accidentally scuff, scrape and cover the light in waste matter, no problem. I would offer the best tools out of my collection to help accomplish the task at hand.

My plumber better have his own damn light or I'm kicking him out of my place. It should be a basic tool of the trade.

I was at a friend's cottage this weekend and he was fixing some plumbing. When he asked to borrow a light I lent him my Novatac. I honestly don't mind character marks on my lights, it just that I want to be the one to put them there.

I don't see why people bash Mags either. They are tuff as nails, inexpensive, long runtime(led),simple operation so non-flashoholics can use them without instruction, you can purchase them everywhere,if you purchased it at a national chain store you can get it replaced if something goes wrong with it nationally. Sounds like a winner to me especially for the money.

not me i dont want no poop or scatches on my lights i would give him the cheapest thing i could find.plastic energizer or a candle.:sick2::candle::naughty:

Good point! ..... I don't give a crap what happens to my MagLED lights.

Not so with my better-quality lights.

I'd give him my 6P without hesitation, if it helps him see better and complete the job more efficiently. Then again a 6P+DX drop in is only ~$60. If he's being paid by the hour, giving him a dim-maglite could end up costing more.

I'm sure any of the legit tactical lights are durable enough for the job.

I'm not sure what that means, any model of the flashlight brands you mentioned feature stronger construction and not just longer, but regulated runtimes over the Mag. The Mag is alongside the Willys Army Jeep and Zippo lighter when it comes to solid and pragmatic American engineering; it is the standard for its price point and bang-for-the-buck quality, but you can get something nicer if you want to spend more.

The only time I've used one of my flashlights (A Fenix P1D) with a service-person, he was really impressed by how small and bright it was. I thought when I told him the price he'd be totally dissuaded, but he didn't skip a beat, he knew a serious illumination tool when he saw one and seemed to find the price reasonable.

I do own an LED Mag, a 2D with a Terralux TLE-300 drop-in, but in rough use I'd be worried how the plastic lens or the type II exterior would hold up. You can't do close-up work with 550+ lumens anyway..

I usually mess around with my own plumbing, but if I was in that situation, I'd probably go get one of my own plug in work lights rather than loan him one of my good flashlights. The Zebralight would be perfect for such a task, but I wouldn't want someone else wearing it and fouling up my head band. :)

The Mag 2C is a good size, not too big, but doesn't roll under the stove when you drop it. Gets the job done.
