Recently three of my no name led flashlights at home failed me. Now I have a couple of mag lites at my disposal but I look forward to buy a brand new one.

I will be using it as a hobbyist, taking it with me to diving or snowboarding trips. Not much of a emergency use, but I would like it to be an EDC light as well. My intention is to have a 123 light.

I had the following in mind (I know they are diverse):

Fenix PD20
Quark 123
Fenik TK11 R2
A Surefire model.

Please enlighten me with your expertise.

For that price I can't think of a light that is dive rated, though you could probably do a bit of extra sealing with some ultra black or similar.

I'll recommend a bored-out surefire, for the option of using 18mm Li-ion cells. If you can find a used 6P at a reasonable price you could probably get a Malkoff drop-in to go with it for just within your price range.

I have the TK-11 r2 and it is a very nice light. It is my go to light for walking around outside at night and I will have it in my truck glove box when going out of town. I don't EDC it because I use my RA clicky for that job a little smaller but good output for only one battery.

I do not know about the Quack or the LD20, I'm sure they are good lights. But I know you will like and be very impressed with the TK11 r2. Good luck!

Quack light

But for 10 bucks more you could pre-order a 123 R4 in a Ti case.

Quack quack ;)

Thank you for such fast replies. I just want to point out one misunderstanding, I have three diving flaslights, what I am looking for is to carry one during the trip, in the jeep or in the boat.

in that case since snowboarding was mentioned, stick to polymer lights like SureFire G2 LED or Streamlight PolyTac LED.

For around $80 I think your best options is probably a SF 6P with a Malkoff M60 or you may get a near new E2DL at the market place.

Otherwise the Fenix TK12 is worth a look!

I really like the UI of the TK12 and over all its great value for money.

- Outdoor mode: (A)50 lumens/12 hrs, (B) 225 lumens/1.5 hrs
- Camping mode: (A) 5 lumens/120 hrs, (B) 90 lumens/5.5 hrs
- Hunting mode: (A) Strobe/3 hrs, (B) 225 lumens/1.5hrs

Thank you. May I ask a source that I can buy a Surefire with a Malkoff M60 drop in, or shoud I buy them separately?

TK11 is a tad big for my tastes I assume.

I also found a E1B for 99 dollars.

I think there's a 6P with Malkoff at the market place if I remember correctly.. Otherwise buy them separately - again maybe the market place. Most lights there are very well looked after. Maybe down the track you can even add a clicky! :)

I don't think the TK12 as that much bigger than the 6P - Pics can be deceiving.

Can't go wrong with an E1B although they output does vary somewhat. I've owned 2 and loved them... But one was a lot brighter than the other.

Thank you. AFAIK, actually as far as I read in the forums, the E1B does not work with RCRs. Is this correct?

Ive had several lights down to about 35 feet, my buddies Olight Warrior survived after being half full of water (his fault) from leaving the lens oring out while lubing but it still works great. For $80 I wouldnt hesitate to go with the Eagletac T20C2 base model, Ive tested it to atleast 35 feet and no leakage what so ever, and for its size its one of the brightest lights I have now. Shining beam has a deal on the Olight Warrior right now that no one can touch, but the Eagletac T20C2 is much brighter, goodluck and let us know what you end up with :D

please accept apology at a bad attempt at humor, most of my friends think I'm an idiot for spending the kind of money I do on " a flashlight?!?!?!?
