Seattle Area Get Together July '09

Trying to setup large summer get together for the Seattle area. Similar to the one we had at Magnuson Park on the 18th of April. We had great time Mike from Pacific Tactical Solutions and his family were there, besides having some great lights for sale and to try out he had a number of lights that were awarded in a drawing.

I talked to my neighbors about the large party barn in Maple Valley (about 15 miles SE of Seattle). They had the date July 11th free. I reserved the date and if we can make it work great.

The "party barn" is large, easily 100+ people can be in there comfortably. It has chairs, tables, a cement floor, stove, etc. There is a large field behind the barn area that can be used for flashlights, we could even put up targets at various distances to check throw. There is very little light pollution the area, it is about 1000' feet off the road where there is one street light. There is plenty of parking and even a spot or two for an RV.

So I guess the first question. Is there an interest in holding this on July 11th? Then what do we need to organize it? Is there additional information that people need?

As it stands right now July 11 is open for me. I'm interested.
I don't need much else at the moment.

As it stands right now July 11 is open for me. I'm interested too. My work schedule can change...hope not...open for now!
I may need about 500-600 watts 120 vac for an hour....is this available.

Power is no problem at all. Plenty of power and running water in the building. There are also restrooms a few pianos and a small stereo.

I did update the Wiki that Innovative Geeks has provided for our use. Here is the Link.

I'm good to go for the 11th, if that works for most of the rest of you. And while things are a little tight money-wise at the moment, I'm sure FlashlightNews can contribute something to the property owners (cash or lights or a combination of the two) in return for making the location available to us.

Hopefully my truck will be repaired by then, and I'll be able to bring a couple of tables, a barbecue, ice chest, and anything else that might be needed.

We also need to ID a couple of campsites nearby for those of us that would like to make a full weekend of it.

There are plenty of tables at the site, they host a breakfast for over 120 people every 4th of July. So tables, chairs, and such are all available. I will look for campsites in the nearby area.
A couple lights might be a nice gift, I think we can arrange that.
A cooler would be good.
I think I will be able to convince some of my friends that are on the edge about nice flashlights to come and check things out.
I will be able to get some hamburgers and/or hotdogs at least to cook.

For camping there are some camp grounds near the area. There is Kanaskat-Palmer State Park (Link.
There is a KOA campground in Kent Link.

Both are about 20 miles away.

And there's of course lodging available in Kent for those non-camping types who don't want to drive home that night. :tired:

:D

That state park looks very nice though, never been there. Maybe I should make a camping trip out of it. Thanks for the link Skeptic.

July 11th sounds good :). I've got it on my calendar, and I'm on the Wiki page. Looking forward to it!

Putting this here so it's more likely to be seen. I've had to revert the Wiki page a couple times due to defacement. I think that the faster I can respond to it, the less it will happen. If anyone sees a mess of tags/ads/links on it, please shoot a quick email to mattatinnovativegeeksdotcom and/or restore it to the last legit version if you know how.

I'm liking that date! Maple Valley is closer to me than Magnusen Park so I'll be a happy camper! (I won't actually be camping, I live too close.)

Totally there. Probably gonna bring my little one cause his mom works nights. Maple valley sounds awesome! Way closer to me!
