hi all
i need a bit of help i,ve just fitted some p4,s to a PCB there is no +or - indication for wiring but on the p4 there is 2 small tabs one is split do,s that indicate + or -.?
cheers thwang

The split tab is where you solder the (-), IIRC. This is opposite to Luxeon emitters, where the (+) connection is the tab with the little hole.

hi
this is what i mean there is no polarity indication.

The 3 on the left are minus
One either side of the bit with the slot out of it,and the one right next to it.

Cheers

as a good thing to do is always check with your volt meter...as some emitters were put on the star backwards... so look @ the emitter... the two shorter posts...( the non-soldered ones) as dom said, the little post with the slot cut into it is the NEG...

When in doubt, I just apply power to it one way. Doesn't work? Try it the other way. I haven't harmed an emitter yet (no over-voltage allowed!)

If you take a Volt Meter and put it on Continuity, you can check it that way most of the time because there is a Very low current when on Continuity. the LED will just barely light up
