Seoul P9?

Hrmm... I'm not sure they're going to make much of a splash in the CPF world. They're only getting 50 lumens/watt in the cool-white incarnation, and half that for the warm white... although the CRI seems to be pretty good.

I don't know the efficiency figures for things like the Nichia GS emitters, but I'd imagine you'll be better off using three of those driven to apprixmate 25 lumens for more efficiency unless CRI is a bigger concern. I'm not sure that 70-ish is groundbreaking for LEDs, but it seems pretty good for a cool white.

EDIT: I was trying to figure out what kind of efficiency we'd get around 10 lumens, but for some reason the spec pdfs don't work for me, they don't have any text in them. Do they work for anybody else?

It's a cool little LED! I have done a couple protos with them. When the push is towards max flux, these don't make the starting line but if you want a miniaturized package with a beam pattern matching that of the bigger lights, you can't beat this fellow. It has a smaller image size than the highpower LED's so you can couple it with a shorter focal length and smaller diameter reflector and get similar results in terms of beam pattern. You could do a Solitare sized light that compared to a standard sized CR123 light in terms of beam distribution; albeit not as high in lux or flux.

Neat product. How can you tell it's a P9? Would you compare it to an Arc with a Nichia CS LED?

MsWisher states that it is a SSC here

6061 Anodized Aluminium Construction
50mm Length
1.6 oz / 45 grams
Water resistant
Twisty with a click
Charges in 7 hours
Runtime of 120 minutes to 25% output

Here's a pic of the emitter board:

I don't have an Arc with a Nichia CS, only have the older ones. They don't even compare. Here's some beamshots:

The corona is puke green like a low dome Lux. There's practically no side spill from the optic. Wish there was sidespill but it's a pretty nice little emergency light that's already ready sitting in my truck's lighter socket. I wonder if there's better bins for a nicer tint?

The P9 is a nice LED. I made an Extreme Micro using a P9 and it has a 5 hour runtime on a single CR2. It has the best of both world's, brightness and long runtime in a very small package.

Hey Mike:wave: Nice looking light.

That LED package looks a lot smaller than a Luxeon. Bet it would fit in a pen light nicely.
