Hi guys. First post...

Any problems with this combo? I plan on switching out the P60 with a Malkoff M60 drop-in to give my L4 some throw.

Ultimately, I'll get an E2D body and Z68 tailcap for it to make a separate torch that I can use in a weapon mount as the need arises, but I think all I need in the interim is the LU60A assembly.

Thanks for your thoughts.

I have Dspecks old e2c adapter and was thinking of the same idea this morning if you do it post your results I'd be interested

I just ordered the assembly from Calvin Hall at brightflashlights.com. What a great guy to talk with and what awesome prices!!! Great experience.

Anyway, I'll have to wait for the next batch of Malkoffs to come available. I'll fill you in then.

Not to part hairs, but I would call the LU60A an assembly considering it is comprised of three elements: M2 bezel, P60, and the E-series adaptor. Maybe we are using the word differently.

It does sell as a complete packaged unit, so you have a point, also.

Essentially, I had Calvin part it out to get the M2 bezel in HA olive drab to match the L4 body. Had to be color coordinated... (I had him keep the P60, too, since I didn't need it.)

With respect, it is what SureFire call their products that allows people to be consistent when discussing SureFire's products.

The LU60 is a Lamp Module, and so is the LU60A. It is part of the modular WeaponLights SureFire is famous for.

A Lamp Module usually features three components -
(1) Bezel (usually shock isolated)
(2) Lamp Assembly
(3) Lamp Module Adapter or Adapter Collar
In some cases the bezel and 'Lamp Assembly' will be a single component - such as an LED bezel (KL4, KX1 etc)

'Whole' modules that do not require any adapter include the Laser Sight Modules and the U2 & K2 bezels (since these screw into a body rather than onto a body, and the body is compatible with Lamp Modules such as the LU60)

I agree that Lamp Modules are assemblies of components but so are complete flashlights and one would not normally refer to a flashlight as an assembly.

I've been considering a similar setup.

With the arrival of all of these LED drop-in units for 6P/C/G (P60)-type heads, I think LU60A modules will become more popular for E-Series owners. Same with the E2C adapters.

Size15's,

Fair enough. I defer to your experience. I'll learn the new gadget language as I go, I guess.

Wait a min.

Dont go through the toruble of buying adaptors and lights just for the bodies.

We have a dealer on this web site who makes custom two and three 123a bodies that are E diameter, take E tailcaps, but C heads without any adaptors.

Just buy a WG6 or a WG9 and then a Z68 or a Z61 tail cap, and then whatever bezel you want OR you already have laying around, 6P, 9P, Z32.

You can also get a Surefire C2/C3 bezel, and a E2C adapter from Lighthound, and use your L4 body:

and a Malkoff or any other D26 lamp-assembly.

Do 17670's, or even better, 18650's, happen to fit in the the WG6? I remember seeing these when they first came out, but at the the time I was trying to avoid any incans. Might have to take another look...

I don't know which rechargeable batts will fit. If you buy a body and the batts don't fit, you can send it back.

For those interested, we also stock the SF LU60A's and offer member discounts on them!

I'll let you know one thing I find with my Lu60a, when you tighten the adaptor on the bezel, and then the whole assembly on the e2d body: When I remove the lu60 from the body I need to REALLY put some 'elbow grease' in to unscrew the adaptor from the bezel. I am pretty strong, and I need to use some very grippy material to do it. It is VERY tight.

Having said that though, I love the lu60 in every other aspect :) and i'm trialling a e6pdl (my FRANKENSTEIN!) as soon as my 6pd bezel arrives (e2d body and tailcap with lu60 adaptor, p60L and 6pd bezel :)).

Thanks for the heads-up regarding the adaptor torque. I'll definitely be mindful of this when I assemble it.

The LU60 Lamp Module collar is also a real pain to unscrew from the bezel. I found that ensuring the threads are lubed helps.

I have a pair of protected 17500's from Lighthound, and they DO fit perfectly in Grant's WG9D body. One of his custom bodies with a Surefire Z32 bezel and P91 lamp stays mounted on my M4 carbine, waiting the day(night?!) some evil dark dwelling creature requires vanquishment.

been looking at Mirageman's bodies (flashlight bodies) for my L4' s and e1L to boost runtime as one of my options for rechargable conversions
