I can't tell you how many times I've been frustrated trying to accurately shim tower modules in turboheads.

The shims FM provided with his bi-pin towers are always either too thick or too thin.

There are generally no shims provided with LED tower modules, even though the units can definitely benefit from accurate placement in the turbohead.

I have a bucket-o-washers, but very few of them have a large enough inner diameter, and most are also too thick.

I bit the bullet.

McMaster-Carr sells almost everything, and this includes steel shims. They offer them in every size and thickness you could need.

I ordered 50-packs of 10mm ID / 16mm OD shims, in both 0.2mm and 0.5mm thickness.

What a treat!

Now I can fine-tune the placement of LEDs and Incan bulbs in any SF turbohead.

I'm happy!:twothumbs

A 50 pack? Mmmmmm

It's a shame we couldn't get 5 packs but at least I know what will do it.
Thanks for the info!
0.2mm

For me, I find I need a fair amount of shimming so I didn't bother with the 0.2mm option, just 0.5 (and I considered 1.0mm ).

Donn, this is a great find.

Could you share the specific part number, or possibly a link to the appropriate item? Thanks in advance!

Since we don't know what it will take exactly from lamp to lamp would it not make more sense to get the 0.1mm ones and just keep adding till you get it right? 98055A117

To save a little money.
