I have an older Fenix L1P and wondering if there is an easy mod to upgrade the LED. I am thinking of replacing the LED only, not the driver board. I don't want to fumble with the potted guts of the light.
I tried to do a search - but finding anything specific on this board with 'Fenix' as a search term is just .

Anybody can give me a hint or a link? Greatly appreciated.

IIRC the L1P is not glued(I lied, ignore the before part) so it shouldn't be too hard to take it apart. Besides that you'll need a bare Seoul P4, a shim, and some thermal compound.

Looking for thread now.

It should be similar to most LED swaps. Remove older LED, clean the heatsink, thermal compound(epoxy is probably better), install newer LED and done.

Edit: this might be helpful, minus the driver swap part.

I believe it's the L1 that was not glued. The L1P is freak'in solder shut!

Ask datiLED for help. 😛
I probably mixed those two up in my mind. Thanks!

drmaxx, If you can;t get it apart, you can try sending it to a modder to do it.

Solder shut! I thought the thing is only heat glued. What a bummer. I found datiLEDs tutorial for the P1 but nothing for the L1P. I might send him a PM.

Thanks Sinjz and Gunner12 for the fast reply.
