SL strion problem

i just bought a sl strion. the reflector on it seems to be diiferant than the on on the first generation strion. the one on the first gen strion was a lot more mirrered and looked like a reverse disco ball of sorts. the one on mine is a lot more porus and its duller. i think its affecting the throw of my new $105 toy im a security officer for caterpillar inc. and my light wont even light up a machine across the street 30 feet away. the beam scaters to much. Does any one know where i can get the reflector and lens assembily from the first gen strion? and does any one else see this problem or am i just seeing things.

You might contact Streamlight. They have excellent customer service. Do you have a police supply store in your area? They might replace it under warranty. I've had reflectors go bad on Stingers through the years. BTW, welcome to the forum!

I haven't used my Strion on years (I had one of the very first ones that came out). I recall it having decent throw. And while I don't doubt that they have redesigned parts of it, the light still should light up across the street. Call Streamlight and see what they say, I think you may have a bum one.

You do know that the light is focusable?

yes i do know the light is focusable. it just dosent have the throw of even my scorpion and supposidley its supposed to be twice as bright. im reasonably confident this is because of the dull porus reflecter on the newer strions the old strions had much the same reflector as the scorpion.
