Slight PD annoyance

I have an issue with one of my PD lights. When I use it as a twisty and turn it off (just off) it will stay on when I activate it via pushing the piston. All I have to do to remedy this issue, is turn it an extra turn and everything works fine. This one light is the only one of four that has this little annoyance. The problem stays with the body, I have swapped heads and pistons and it still happens with the body.

I found that by backing out the clip screws just a little the problem is resolved. So, I bought a set of shorter screws and now it works fine (original 3/16 new 1/8). When I received the replacement set of screws, I ground down the 3/16 set and they work fine too.

Just an FYI if you are having a similar issue.

This shows the screw coming in contact with the piston. Don said this is normal. I guess mine is drilled a teeny tiny bit too low.

The left screw is 1/8", the middle is altered 3/16" and the right is 3/16".

I did the same thing and changed to shorter screws. Another little thing I did with my PD and with my LS20 is put a bit of tape around the piston near the opening to keep the piston better centred during travel. This may or may not do anything depending on the shape of the kilroy but in both my lights it seems to make a difference.

Oddjob,
What kind of tape did you use for this?

Oddly enough just a strip of masking tape with a little lube on it. It does not affect the feel at all. You could probably find something else that has less friction like scotch tape or clear packing tape.

Oddjob's suggestion is genuine--it works.

I prefer the slick surface of Scotch 3M #811 tape--one complete wrap. And if you apply a swipe of lubricant over the tape (minimal) it's even better.

Isn't this fun...making GREAT lights even better?

I had to use the tape method too. I used scotch tape I had on my desk at the time. No lube it is fine.
