Finally got AW's soft start. I did not remove the metal ring that normally prevents the switch from moving up. Am I supposed to? It appears that the switch is a little low.

On the other side is.....wow, this thing is incredible. With rested Eneloops and a WA1185, I slowly ramped the light to high and nice and bright, but the lamp does look a little low in the flashlight. I did push the bulb down almost the whole way....is that right? Where are you supposed to place it or will removing the clip and moving the switch up solve everything.

I must thank all of you Incan guys who once again steered me in the right direction!!

I left the retaining ring in place on mine because I wanted the extra retention strength. Just make sure the AW module is in place against the ring. Yes, the AW soft start button is a little low, but that was fine by me. Others may have different views and recommend taking the ring out
Anyway hope you like the Mag85 over the ROP. Going to test them out tonight? So what's next... Mag623

I need to edit this to let others know the specifics of what I did or did not do.

I did not get the switch all the way up against the ring. I was off under 1/16th of an inch or so and it was really obvious. I simply unscrewed the set screw and then had to reseat it to ensure it dug into the sidewall of the M@g and then everything is very good.

Played outside tonight (29 Feb) for about 15 minutes or so with my neighbor. He was impressed and really liked the soft start and multilevels. I was amazed at how well this thing lights up anything up to a football field away. I couldn't find much else around to illuminate that was much farther away. Need to get to the city park to do some real testing.

(returning to old message) Yup, got the 4D M@g in the lathe as we speak, however the boring bar I got from friend was to big for what I have here. Part on order or being made tomorrow at friends work. Then my first threading experience will hopefully be behind me.

Can't wait for the 623!!
