soloarforce L2 with an 18650 extension tube - the tail-cap is Solarforce S3 Forward clicky switch#

When the flashlight is tightened all the way down at all points it will only work in momentary mode - IE I really cant hear a click and it wont stay on --

when I loosen the head I can for a limited duration keep the flashlight on - it actually turns off all by itself randomly

ideas?

Are you getting an actual click when the switch is off the light? It sounds like one of two things. The switch itself is faulty or your connection is screwy. Is it a protected 18650? If so, the cell is slightly longer and maybe you aren't able to tighten the tailcap as far down as it needs to be. Just my .02, maybe somebody else can chime in with a little more info. Good luck

batteries are red ultrafire 2600

the click is very faint

I have messed with it for days and screwing it all tight again - now it finally works...

changed batteries to blue uniquefire in the on mode I screwed on the head with the extension tube it comes on as I am tightening it and as I fully tighten the head it turns off and will not engage

A couple ideas:

1: Might sound dumb, but do you have the larger spring on the drop in? That spring needs to be making contact with the lip at the head of the light, otherwise you won't get any light or it will flicker.

2: What type of drop in are you using? If you have an L2 with an 18650 extension tube, chances are you could have a .8-4.2V drop in (or 6V Surefire, etc). That means using two 18650 (4.2V+4.2V=8.4V) batteries could be a problem. If the drop in is the case, simply get a higher voltage drop in or reconfigure your battery set up. Either way, just watch those batteries. Especially if you have a faulty switch or something, they could go :poof: Make sure they don't get too hot

1/ Solarforce forward clickies are very soft [ Smooth ]
2/ do the batteries go all the way into the body with room to spare ?
are they flush with the end ?
or sticking out a little ?
3/ Have you tested 1x18650 ?
to eliminate an extension tube issue ?
