I love this build.

Were it not for my reluctance to buy any more 17670-based lights, I'd be all over it. I'm still really tempted.

If you really are planning to build another, brighter one, I wonder if you could run the two wires for the momentary circuit up to the top of the battery tube, then put some sort of conductive ring in the head (or just use the metal reflector)? You could still use the tail switch for power, but you could twist the head to make/break the momentary circuit for the UI.

I have thought about some kind conductive switch. I can still be done, the heatsink is plenty thick enough for a chanel to be cut up it. I tried a "bump switch" -a spring that would make a connection when the light is bumped, but the connection is too fast- the maxflex's switch connection has to make a gap for at least 50msec.. But it worked out because I really only wanted a single mode anyway.
