SOLD: XPG R5 1.6A >500 Lumens

Cree has raised XPG max current rating to 1.5A recently, stated 493lumens @ 1.5A. http://74.125.93.132/search?q=cache...delivering+up+to+493&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us

So I decided to make a XPG light that is driven to max spec.

The light use 2 Li-ion with 2x800mA constant current driver in parallel,
which I learned from original DEFT thread here (See post #1):
http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?t=183261
This will push the XPG R5 over 500 lumen limit.

Spec:

  • Brand New Mag 2C, running 2x Li-ion.
  • XPG R5 on 14mm board (Pure White tint)
  • Brass Heat sink
  • Dual 800mA CC driver delivering 1.6 Amp to the Led.
  • Glass lens
  • LOP stippled mag reflector
  • Shortened Spring for reduced pressure on Li-ion)
  • Estimated over 500 Lumens out put from a single XPG R5
  • Perfect beam (Thanks to the LOP)
  • This will blow away the new Malkoff XPG drop-in & will give you 4-6 hour Run time depends on what Li-ion you use.
  • Perfect & intense hot spot
Price is $69, add $10 for Shipping & PP Fee. USA Only.

Batteries not included, but many ways to run it.
The light will Run on:

  • 2x Dx 25500 C-lion (The unprotected version, the protected one is too long)
  • 2x18500 Li-ion with a PVC battery sleeve
  • 2x18650 Li-ion with sleeve, Mag Ring & recessed spring mod.

Thanks & good luck with your build.

Re: FS: Mag 2C XPG R5 1.6A >500 Lumens

Wow....looks good.

I have tested XP-G R5's in tiny EagleTac lights at 330 OTF at 1A, so this Mag 2C build with 1.6A and brass heatsinking must rock:thumbsup:

Good luck and great seller:thumbsup:

Re: FS: Mag 2C XPG R5 1.6A >500 Lumens

Thanks, Driver info. is in the DEFT link above in post #1.

Re: FS: Mag 2C XPG R5 1.6A >500 Lumens

I wish I had extra money for this. If it is still available next week I may just take it off your hands. The real reason for me posting is because I love that beam. I was wondering if you made the LOP reflector or purchased it from someone? If you made it, would you be willing to make another and if so, how much would you charge me?

Thanks.

Re: FS: Mag 2C XPG R5 1.6A >500 Lumens

Hi, I purchased it from someone here on CPF, no idea where he got it from, not FM, Litho or Kai or DX, I think someone
made it but I don't know who.

It's the best LOP I've seen. It looks metalish, but the underside is mag stock blue so I think it's coated over mag stock reflector. But I don't know how was it made so perfect, way better than typical stippled mag reflector & more reflective
than the DX/Kai aluminum OP.

Hi,

Do you by chance have an extra tube for use w/ 2 x 18650s?

Re: FS: Mag 2C XPG R5 1.6A >500 Lumens

I have some tube that's a bit to fat for mag C, but I can probably trim one to fit. But you'll still nee a Mag ring for use with 18650.

Re: FS: Mag 2C XPG R5 1.6A >500 Lumens

This guy builds good stuff!

I bought a McGizmo HD45 that he put an XP-G in and it was centered and focused perfect! (and I'm picky about that kind of stuff)

Re: FS: Mag 2C XPG R5 1.6A >500 Lumens

Hi,

If no one has taken it yet, I'll take it.

Please let me know.

Thanx!

Re: FS: Mag 2C XPG R5 1.6A >500 Lumens

I snooze, I lose. I asked if the light was still available, then saw that member 'mvyrmind' sent a PM. I assumed he was purchasing the item, and I didn't follow-up. My mistake. :mecry:

I see it is still available. I'm still interested, but appear to have slid down the "I'll take it" list, since others have inquired after me..and my inaction.

Re: FS: Mag 2C XPG R5 1.6A >500 Lumens

1. SPF to rookie
2. Thanks for the kind words, Greg G!
(FYI, I made a centering ring & installed it to keep the led centered before glue down, the centering ring is tucked under the carbon fiber trim piece & thus kept out of view).
3. Sorry to other PMs regarding to sale out side US, this is US only.
