taken from my Xenonics Nighthunter One (75W UXL lamp)

the best beauty of Xenon Short Arc lamps is the cathode (or anode?) glowing red and purple hot for a couple of seconds after you turn the light off!

I am pretty sure thats the infrared radiation messing with the cameras white balance.

I have an anode of a BIG short arc lamp as a paperweight. About 350g of tungsten, very smooth and nice to touch. Very tiny, of course, considering the material.
And a small molten spot on the tip (which needs LOTS of heat...)
