I had a problem with the two-stage switch poking holes in the battery wrapper. It seems the battery didn't have too much freedom to move downward into the tail as much as it needed, and the two-stage switch started grinding against the inside of the tube before high mode kicked in (heavy groove is proof). I took out the spring, and there was no grinding.

I took a look at the spring, and noticed that the spiral winds pass over one another. This ends up in multiple winds stacking up on one another. IMO, a good spiral spring should be one coil thick when fully compressed.

I tried reshaping the inside coil, but still didn't get it to flatten because of the outside coils (when in the tube). Before cutting the outside coils (like I've done on my nitecore PD's), I looked around to see if I had any copper alloy spiral springs, which would have more conductivity than the stainless one the Raw ships with. I did, and in fact, it's a thicker gage and gold plated! This was from a Huntlight FT04 which was otherwise not being used.

Below is pictures of the original (left) spring, after an attempt to tighten the inside coil. On the right is the spring I replaced it with, after cutting some coil length off both the inside and outside, and then shaping the outer coil to retain properly in the bottom of the tube.

Works great! No more grinding, and I know I have a higher conductivity path.

I'll be looking around for a source of these springs... Unfortunately, I only had one.
