Went to buy another led (coast 1-cr123) from Sportmans yesterday-
I use it at work everyday and it is a great light that fits in my pocket nicely....along with a purchase of batteries.
Once there, I was checking out the rack lights and the Xenon-6/9/12volt
Sportsmans flashlights are no longer there (the bulbs are, however) and
a RECALL sign for those lights stating they can catch fire after being used for more than 10 minutes. Recall through 2007, I think. Sticker on the light said not to use more than 10 minutes when I bought it also.
I really like my 12volt Sportmans Xenon. It is identical to the Cabelas
light- I bought the Cabelas higher lumen bulb and it screws right onto the
Sportsmans version.
Wondering if anyone else has seen/heard about this. I asked the lady at the counter about the Sportsmans LED lights and she said they were all on recall- don't even need a receipt, just bring in the light for refund/exchange for another product. She said it was a problem with the batteries.
I suspect there is a copyright issue or patent issue going on. Had purchased the Sportsmans LED prior to the Xenon and it seemed to have no issues other than reverse clicky which I didn't like.
Any more info out there? I just might take it back in and get a refund, then buy either the Cabelas version or maybe even the $100 rechargable Cabelas supposed 500/400ish lumen light...
