SSC: OP or smooth reflector?

The only SSC I have so far sits behind an OP reflector, because the light originally used a Cree. The result is a nice floody beam just the way I like it, but I'm wondering - what difference would it make to the SSC's beam if I used a smooth reflector? I'm aware of the difference with Crees, I just don't know if it does the same to SSCs.

Barely noticeable difference (if any). Some tiny brighter rings may appear (and may not). Tiny - visible under 0,5m:thumbsup:. That's why I love Seouls:grin2:.

I have a LF3 which has a smooth reflector with the SSC. Very nice beam, even stands up well on a whitewall.
Also have a couple SSC mags with smooth reflectors and they are nice as well.

With smaller reflectors the P4 does not need a textured reflector. Can't say the same for XR-Es though. For 20mm reflectors & smaller, I prefer a smooth reflector over a textured reflector with a P4.

SSC P4 works great with any smooth reflector. 20mm and 40mm.

Are their any hi quality 16mm - 20mm smooth aluminum reflectors out there that are made for the SSC P4 or Lux's?
Something on par in quality with the McR series, but smooth rather than textured?
I tried this one from DX http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.5960
I was hoping to use it for SSC P4 mods, but no luck... It won't focus with the SSC:shakehead
Oh well, guess I'll stick with IMS and Khatod reflectors for now

IMS reflectors are quite cheap and work nice. DX reflectors are designed for Cree.

That is only for the Cree LED's. How do I know? I own LuxIII, SSC P4 U-bins, and Cree Q5's here with a set of smooth and OP reflectors. I've tried those on the SSC and LuxIII's and they don't work but on the Cree fits and focuses the LED well.

Cheap too, I think.

Photonfanatic sells the IMS reflectors (which are smooth) in the marketplace. They work great with the Seoul emitters, even when white wall hunting. Nice smooth artifact free beam.

There's no need to use an OP reflector with a Seoul P4, but it will work. An OP makes the hotspot on a Seoul a little bigger in diameter, and lessens the contrast between the hotspot and spill in experience (McR19XR with a Seoul P4).
